rikki got me prisma markers..!

so here is me opening my gift from two birthdays ago... i got a set of grey prisma markers from rikki... and my mom got me a redskins jersey... santana moss! yay for birthdays!

evening starr...

here are a couple pics of evening starr. she turned seven on february 19... these are older pictures, i have to find some more recent ones...
i named her evening, i thought it was a pretty name, and then star was named after evenings aunt star, but i wanted two "r"s on her name so we went with that.
she has a funny sense of humor :)

beyond artwork...

so i enjoy a wide variety of music (you should see my ipod!!) i drink a lot of coffee, and i love crosswords, sudoku, and i play a lot of video games...
although i am no longer playing world of warcraft, (this game sucked me in for around a year and a half...) i still love it! i have a psp, ps2, and xbox 360... i try not to spend too much time playing these games, and focus on artwork... or at least more productive things...

i also write, and am working on a few projects here... most of my writing, though is focused toward my graphic novels, and comic book projects, though i do have a few ideas and writings for novels... three have been written, and one has been rewritten, and will undergo yet another rewrite... (none are close to publication, by any means...)

what i have been doing...

i drink a lot of coffee, and sketch a lot of pictures... and i enjoy drawing comics... i am currently working on several projects, including a graphic novel, and i am getting back into freelance artwork. i started a company called necrollusions. i have done a lot of freelance work and published quite a bit through and with the necrollusions studios.
i had a comic strip called "the lavenders" about skeletons who are creatively focused around a coffeeshop, and i published this strip for three years... i do not believe i have any of this to show outside the publications archives... and i doubt much of that exists anymore... the publication is now defunct. following this strip, for six months before the publications demise, i ran another strip called "squid ink." i have all of the artwork from this strip, which continues beyond its actual published life... i have considered republishing this, it is some of my favorite... and i also have another comic strip about aliens & coffee... (one of these i designed for my girlfriend renny, a white sox fan!! and i placed in my photo gallery slideshow.) this strip has been published in my own magazine "coffee sketches," which is at the moment idle, and actually never ran very long. my actual work with comic strips has been put onto a back burner for the time being, with a stronger focus on comic books, and graphic novels.
i have been going to wizardworld chicago for the past three years which is the second largest comic convention in the country, and have been an exhibitor... i have no plans to continue going to comic conventions until after some of my new work gets published... i want to go with comics that i have done, in hand... and ready to show!
i began taking college summer classes at heartland community college in 1999. i have taken several summer classes, and over the past couple years, finished another summer class, and my first two semesters of college. i do not have my degree, yet...
i play world of warcraft, and was sucked into this life for nearly a year and a half, where i pretty much gave up on drawing... and now have stopped playing this game which has kept me from anything creative..
now it is time for me to begin drawing and sketching again..!

all about me...

so i guess i will begin with a little about myself...

i am an artist who is getting back into drawing, and sketching. i am working towards getting back into freelancing, after a long period of lazy drawing, and entirely too much world of warcraft...
i drink a lot of coffee...
i have been with my girlfriend renny for nearly 3 and a half years. she just finished her graduate program in library information sciences, graduated in may! we live in champaign illinois together.
i have a daughter who lives in bloomington with her mother, and she is 7. her name is evening starr. i also have a daughter who is 15. her name is amber. i have only recently began a correspondence with amber, after nearly ten years. she is the primary reason for beginning this blog... i never really thought there was anything interesting about me beyond my artwork... i guess we will see!

i am posting a picture that i drew and titled self portrait... me and coffee... i use coffee as a wash in a lot of my artwork... which is usually inspired by coffee!

so i have started this new blog which is about me! all of my prior blogs have been focused around my artwork. i began with a photo gallery...
